Meg Madison from “Rightsizing Narrative”
We were alerted to a handsome exhibit of Black and White prints now at Kristi Engle Gallery in Highland Park, California through April 24.
The "RIGHTSIZING NARRATIVE" images are very good from a composition perspective and employ shadowy use of light and dark contrasts. We contacted the artist and she had this to say:
“Rightsizing Narrative” are diptychs exploring the construction of narrative, or stories. One photo taken randomly is paired with a composed photo. Through these black and white photos -diptychs made up of a documentary photo and a composed tableau, I hope to elicit imagined relationships between the two and narratives that viewers can interpret in them.
The structure and content of this well thought out show is dependent on a personal vision that employs memory and story structure as a topic for exploration. Meg Madison has provided an interesting canvas for our examination.
