Renowned photographer Brian Lav will have an exhibition of his work in a show entitled,"Down South",  beginning November 7th and running through January 5th. The exhibition  is open to the public each afternoon, Friday through Sunday.

"Down South" breaks the Red Filter Gallery’s tradition of black and white photography by including  color work from Brian Lav. Long known for his brilliant monochrome work, gallery owner, Forrest Old states, “Brian’s work encompasses a broad evolution of style with substance. His new ventures into color work are exciting and worth experiencing by the viewing public."

"Down South" includes documentary images from a summer 2013 "voyage" through America’s great South Land. Over 4,000 miles on the journey provided Brian, and now the Red Filter Gallery audience, a keen insight into current conditions in this remarkable part of The United States.

Brian Lav teaches photography at Parsons the New School for Design; an institution he has taught at since 1974. He has been photographing and teaching since 1969, and earned Parsons’ Distinguished Teaching Award in 1988. He has had over forty one man and group exhibits of his work and is represented in many permanent collections including The International Center for Photography, The Rochester Institute of Technology, The New Jersey State Museum, The Newark Museum, and The Museum of Art and History in Fribourg, Switzerland. Brian Lav is recognized as a prominent contemporary photographer, a master printer, and an exceptional educator.

At the same time as the  "Down South"  exhibition, the Red Filter Gallery offers an extended viewing of "The Hudson River: An Inspiration" by Joseph Squillante in upstairs Gallery II.
