He is back, this time Brian Lav takes focus on his inspiring portraiture work over the years.

From Leonardo da Vinci’s painting of the Mona Lisa to the onset of the photograph, the portrait has been and remains a favorite subject matter for artists and photographers.

Whether you choose to photograph your family, strangers on the street, a formal portrait of a friend or an inanimate object, a portrait is an emotional connection between the photographer and the subject matter that is being photographed.

Brian Lav has been photographing and teaching since 1969. In addition to Drew University in Madison, New Jersey (2003-2009) Lav is an associate professor of photography at Parsons the New School for Design in NYC, where in 1998 he received their most prestigious Distinguished Teaching Award.

To date Mr. Lav has had over fifty one-man and group exhibits and his work is represented in many permanent collections. Brian Lav is recognized as a prominent contemporary photographer, a master printer, as well as, an exceptional educator.
