Echinacea, Allen Shifrin

Spring is here. Leave it to the creativity of a photographer like Allen Shifrin to present a different take on the flora that surrounds us.

This series of photographs presents botanical subjects as form, with an emphasis on light and shadow, devoid of color.  The presentation makes clear that they are alive, and their imperfections remind us of the effects that stress and aging have on all living things.  It also helps us to appreciate that imperfection does not deny beauty.
